Dear Michael

Written June 25, 2026

You do not know me,

Yet something tells me you do.

In some ways, it is a blessing

That you do not know these times like I do.

It would shatter you temporarily

Then you’d write another song that rings true.

You reminded us that We are the World

Then encouraged us to heal it.

Consider the Man in the Mirror,

Told hate to Beat It.

Your message was love,

You sung it in every hit.

I apologize for the slander of society

For the way they tried to shame you,

Oh beautiful Michael,

I hate how people still mock you.

I pray they would remove the shameful lies

From their queue.

Knowing everything you battled on earth,

Just to feel okay.

Makes the image of you in God’s loving arms

The only thing that makes your death okay.

You can now sleep soundly now

Because all your pain has gone away.

If you were here,

I wouldn’t beg for an autograph.

The only pieces of you I would want

Are not your signature on a photograph,

But your time and conversation,

Perhaps a smile and a laugh.

When you’ve got time,

Please reserve a table in heaven for us.

In eternity, we are all the same,

So time, age, or status will not separate us.

Two kindred spirits sitting down for dinner,

We will have so much to discuss!
